THE FINAL MAY WEDDINGS AT TLAQUEPAQUE

Wendy Lippman • Jun 03, 2017

Tlaquepaque hosted four weddings on the final weekend of May. Unusually wet weather has touched upon Sedona during the month of May but we are happy to say that our weddings were very successful in spite of the weather.

Shelby Sanford and Eric Pederson held their wedding ceremony in the Patio de las Campanas on Friday, May 29, 2009 below strands of overhead lights. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Joel Boyd and flowers were provided by Mountain High Floral. Following the ceremony, guests joined the bridal party on the Calle Independencia for a delicious dinner prepared by Heartline Cafe. Music was provided by Jam N Sounds and the entire event was photographed by Mel Russell.

Saturday, May 30th we were happy to host two weddings at Tlaquepaque. Justin Thurman and Marcia Holley got married in the Chapel in front of their family and friends. Rev. Joel Boyd performed the ceremony for Justin and Marcia.

Ivy Danner and LeRoi McDonald got married in the Patio de las Campanas in front of 100 of their closest friends and family members. Ivy and LeRoi were so happy to be able to have their wedding ceremony outdoors and waited out the thunderstorms that hit Sedona in the late afternoon on Saturday. Friends and family members assembled in Rene Restaurant prior to the ceremony to enjoy cocktails before the ceremony.

Ivy was busy taking a variety of photographs in the Tlaquepaque village prior to the start of her wedding ceremony. We were so happy that the skies cleared up and the ceremony was able to be held on the outdoor Patio under strings of overhead lights. A dear family friend performed the ceremony for Ivy and LeRoi. Photographs of the wedding were taken by Nelson’s Weddings. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed an exciting reception catered by Heartline Cafe in the ballroom, La Sala de los Milagros. The cake was created by Donna Joy with Sedona Sweet Arts.

Sunday we were pleased to host the wedding of Rachel Erdmann and Bradley Carney. Rachel and Bradley got married in the Tlaquepaque Chapel by Pastor Edmund H. Reyes. Flowers were provided by Bliss Extraordinary Floral and Marie Rhines performed her amazing violin for the intimate wedding ceremony.

Rosalie’s of Sedona prepared a scrumptious dinner for the bridal party and their guests enjoying the reception on the Terrace at Patio del Norte and in our ballroom, La Sala de los Milagros. Bobby Russell from Sedona Sounds got everyone rockin and dancing up a storm. Professional photographs were taken by Cameron Clark and Jamelle Kelly with Cameron and Kelly Studios. Throughout the reception, flowers and candles dazzled the guests. The white fondant three tier cake adorned by orchids was created by Donna Joy with Sedona Sweet Arts.

We are evaluating the current health situtation daily and value the safety of our guests, merchants, and community. We ask that you check our website at tlaq.com/events before October 27 to monitor updates. Tlaquepaque is an open-air venue; however, all attendees will need to manage social distancing and masking accordingly.

Events at Tlaquepaque are made all the more memorable by the event planning and food the guests enjoy. Whether attending an engagement party or wedding, the beauty of Tlaquepaque’s architecture and grounds is enhanced when the guest’s culinary experience is as artful and delightful as the surroundings. Here are a couple of our exclusive vendors who make that possible.

Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village has provided the perfect setting for south of the border fiestas, festivals, and cultural extravaganzas for the last four decades. Unfortunately, this year we are dealing with the unprecedented COVID pandemic and must pause our highly attended Day of the Dead celebration. There's good news though! Our annual Marigold Mural project is back this year with a NEW SAFE AND EXCITING FORMAT. Join us on Wednesday, November 4 through Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Calle Independencia. This project is unique to Tlaquepaque and an artful way to remember your loved ones. The artist Lovejoy will be in attendance again this year, handing out markers as she guides and answers questions regarding the mural and your contributions. Face masks and sanitizer will also be available for those who need them.

The Micro-Wedding Plan a bite-sized version of a traditional wedding and celebrate with 50 or fewer of your closest friends and family. Usually, a shorter timeline (3 hours instead of 5), these intimate events still include a ceremony and celebration with flowers, cake, music, and more, and can be designed to your liking. Bonuses: More time to spend with each of your guests A more affordable solution or an opportunity to allocate money to the things you care about the most (you no longer have 150 people coming, so you can spend more money on your dress!) Less to plan and manage which can mean less stress For the eco-conscious, a smaller carbon footprint

Bursts of color from fragrant seasonal blossoms, sycamores reaching up to the sky, beautifully landscaped plazas and pathways — these are some of the first things that captivate visitors when they come to Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village. Although we are currently closed, our incredible crew continues to work to ensure this Arizona state gem is ready and flourishing when we reopen.
