In May, the gallery honored the moms in our lives, and this month it’s all about dear ol’ dad. Rowe Fine Art Gallery celebrates Father’s Day with Our Family of Artists: For the Guys! Stop into the gallery for a glass of wine and appetizers, and shop for the man who has everything. Better yet, bring him with you and let him pick out his own treasure. Rowe Fine Art Gallery offers a range of gifts at various price points. Grads are also in the spotlight in June. Forgo the traditional gifts and opt for a piece of fine art for the graduate in your family. Perhaps it will spark a lifelong love affair with collecting art. You might consider the appropriately titled When Dreams Come True, one of the newest bronze sculptures by artist and gallery owner Ken Rowe. Hollister Rand’s work as a medium has put her in touch with innumerable loved ones, including fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, and beloved pets. Anna Boothe:
That which deals with human visceral response, compassion, vulnerability, and the metaphors that can be woven from these elements, are the conceptual grist for the sculptural work I have made over the last several years. As individuals, what kinds of veneers do we create, and why? What are the messages we project? Where do the perspectives that drive our responses originate and how can we steer them? What tools do we use to interpret the projections of others? Many of the current works employ body parts, such as hands, hearts and brains. The hands represent holding on, letting go and giving as themes that recur in our everyday emotional lives. Hearts and brains refer to the tandem, yet often polarized, sources from which our reactions come. I attempt to create new contexts for these common symbols in an effort to reaffirm them, metaphorically, as essential ingredients of a balanced stance from which to generate healthy interaction. Glass, as a material, is appropriate for what I seek to express because it is capable of conveying the simultaneous strength and fragility, as well as the translucency, or degree of visibility, of these associations. I’m thirty years into my love affair with this elusive stuff and there is so much more to explore.

Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village has provided the perfect setting for south of the border fiestas, festivals, and cultural extravaganzas for the last four decades. Unfortunately, this year we are dealing with the unprecedented COVID pandemic and must pause our highly attended Day of the Dead celebration. There's good news though! Our annual Marigold Mural project is back this year with a NEW SAFE AND EXCITING FORMAT. Join us on Wednesday, November 4 through Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Calle Independencia. This project is unique to Tlaquepaque and an artful way to remember your loved ones. The artist Lovejoy will be in attendance again this year, handing out markers as she guides and answers questions regarding the mural and your contributions. Face masks and sanitizer will also be available for those who need them.

The Micro-Wedding Plan a bite-sized version of a traditional wedding and celebrate with 50 or fewer of your closest friends and family. Usually, a shorter timeline (3 hours instead of 5), these intimate events still include a ceremony and celebration with flowers, cake, music, and more, and can be designed to your liking. Bonuses: More time to spend with each of your guests A more affordable solution or an opportunity to allocate money to the things you care about the most (you no longer have 150 people coming, so you can spend more money on your dress!) Less to plan and manage which can mean less stress For the eco-conscious, a smaller carbon footprint
