October 1st - Perspectives on the American West

460918347
Mountain Trails Gallery-Sedona presents: Steven Lang, OPAMaster and Jeff Segler, WAA , both award winning painters and their views of the American Indian and the West. Steven Lang’s newest work incorporates history of the American West, with a focus on the American Indian point of view. Western landscape is the panoramic backdrop detailed on paintings such as “Kokipa Hiva,” which is the Lakota word for not afraid and the name of the legendary Lakota Woman- Warrior. This painting appears in Michael Terry’s new book entitled “Notes and Observations on Clothing & Regalia of Plains Indians.” JW Segler pays equal homage to the American Indian as well as providing a Cowboy’s perspective---he illustrates in his paintings, the men, land, life, and times that shaped the West. Segler has developed his signature paint texturing and brush work that is unique as well as appropriate for his modern interpretation of the richness of the West. These works must be seen and experienced to be fully appreciated. Meet up with Steven Lang and Jeff Segler on Friday evening, October 1st from 5-8 p.m. Preview of their new collection on exhibit October 1st through 22nd.
